It’s only natural that Franco’s passion for the sea evolved into a lifetime career pursuit. Growing up in a fish market family set the stage for the next generation of Utica fishmongers. Franco’s father, Vito, founded and operated Kossuth Fish Market for several decades, and the family business has found a new home in New Hartford. Mediterranean summers with his father provided Franco the opportunity to experience the magnificence and beauty of the open water and all it has to offer firsthand. Franco learned the art of spearfishing off the coast of Sicily. He also mastered free diving in those crystal clear waters and spent evenings night-time squid fishing and trolling for tuna.

Today, Franco spends his time as the owner and operator of Fresco Fish Market in the New Hartford Shopping Center. Fresco Fish Market is a full-scale seafood market with a restaurant twist. Everything, from raw to cooked, is offered to-go. Fresco is passionate about sourcing and selling you the best seafood available that surpasses the standards for the market. We offer hand-prepared, fresh seafood recipes that are inspired by the sea.
